Xhaferi meets Von der Leyen in Brussels: North Macedonia has done a lot and should continue the European path

The President of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi, today in Brussels met the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. Prime Minister Xhaferi paid his first working visit to Brussels leading the Government delegation consisting of the First Deputy President of the Government in charge of European affairs, Bojan Marichikj, and the Minister of foreign affairs, Bujar Osmani.

At the meeting they discussed the accession negotiations process of the country for EU membership, the developments in North Macedonia regarding the Presidential and Parliamentary elections, as well as the newest developments in the region. 

On that note it was concluded that North Macedonia has achieved great progress in the accession process. 

Prime Minister Xhaferi underlined that the Government, in the next period, will continue with the same dynamics, commitment and timeliness, to implement all the processes and obligations arising from the initiated accession negotiations with the European Union, as well as that the Government supports the initiated procedure for amending the Constitution, for which will work diligently to ensure the necessary majority.

The President of the Government extended his appreciation to the President of the EC, Von der Leyen, for the initiative - Plan for Growth, while pointing out that it represents a concrete offer for accelerated integration of the Region, which is highly appreciated by North Macedonia.

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen congratulated Xhaferi on his election as President of the Government and expressed confidence that in the future the Government will continue with the activities to achieve the necessary reforms from the accession negotiations, but also from the reform agenda from the Growth Plan.
